BB Update 5: Tonys, Producers and Agents, Oh My!

So, I've been a little behind on getting a new update done because of my work schedule.  Starting a new job while working the old one and doing a show, all at the same time, has left my brain fried. (yes, I know that's not hard but still)  Nonetheless, there have been several things going on in the Broadway Blogspot world that you may have missed.  Read on to see what you may have missed...

  • First up, we posted a new Broadway Encore story from Agent Naomi Kolstein.  It's titled "How I Became an Agent aka The Goat."  I think that title pretty much sums it up.  Check it out, it's an interesting story.
  • We recently helped out our friends at OvationTV with a Twitter contest they were having.  It involved tweeting the plots of Broadway musicals to win free tickets to a show playing where you live.  Be sure to check out their site to learn more about what they do and the great programming they offer.
  • Another new video that we recently posted was our tour of The Drama Bookshop.  Anyone who lives in NYC knows what a great resource this place can be.  They have tons of plays, librettos, monologues, scene books, reference books, how-to's, etc.  Whatever you need in the way of performing books or guides, they've got.  And if they don't have it, they'll find it for you.
  • Another really cool thing for us was the opportunity to broadcast the Tony Award red carpet and creative arts presentation.  It was great for a site as new as we are to be allowed access to the plug-in for that broadcast.  Thanks to those of you that watched it with us!
  • We also had the opportunity to speak to Producer Dan Whitten.  He is the president of Tiger Theatricals which is the company that has helped to bring shows like Movin' Out, Fiddler on the Roof with Alfred Molina and Jersey Boys to Broadway.  He is also working on Enter Laughing: The Musical; based on the book by Carl Reiner.  Check out his interview to hear what advice he gives to aspiring producers and also to hear how he became a part of Enter Laughing.
As you can see, it's been a busy couple of weeks here in our world.  We hope that you've been joining us for the ride.  If you've missed any of the recent video postings, just click on the name above and it will take you right to it.  As always, we welcome any questions, comments or suggestions.

I hope everyone is well.  Until next time...
